Would you drop the sluices down in between the pontoons? Image Image

I am guessing that monster sits pretty high in the water, so yes I would drop the sluice between the pontoons, right after I got rid of the side sluices, and converted to an undercurrent box.

i had one damn near identical to that one years ago. i think if you measure, that being a triple, if you drop it down between the pontoons it will be way wide.

Let see, flare is precision 8inch, pump is precision 1500, jet is precision, the center box is about 22 1/4 wide ,the side boxes are about 16inches wide. All 3 boxes together with the gaps in between are around 5 ft wide. The dredge not running is just below the 50% line on the pontoons. Running, the discharge end dips maybe a inch or 2. The pontoons are 36 inches round and I did winch from it lightly, didn't want to push my luck first time out with it. But the pontoons only touch the deck of the trailer about 8 inches across on the bottom.. So i might be able to widen the trailer a touch while still dropping the sluices. Image Whatcha think Hoser PS the center pontoons are rated at 900lbs at 50% the nose cone I think are 375 at 50% so I still have quite abit of weight I could add to it. And it tows very easily I just needed to drop the jet in the water for a rudder, before that towing was a nightmare.

Colo,
I think He was talking about towing it on the trailer. My math says that with the boxes dropped between the pontoons the dredge will be approximately 12 feet wide, that would require a special permit and pilot cars to move down the hiway. if it was me for moving that beast up and down the river I would harness the existing engine and pump for calm water. Set up a bracket to drop the back of the jet down and drive that sucker like a jet boat. I used to do it on my 6 with twin Briggs 8s, not fast but it will run upstream in slow pools, (kinda wish the Mrs had gotten a picture of me sitting on the header box using the throttles to steer, LOL).

Dave

P.S. Do you think you could do a little measuring on the flare cone for me? I would like to have the dimensions off a Precision flare for a little project on my 6. I would like to know how tall and wide is the opening at the box, and the length from the weld right below the attaching point for the winch that raises and lowers the jet to the opening.

Hey Dave I haven't forgot about ya, when I get over to the storage unit I will get your measurement for the flare. They look easy to make if you had a plasma cutter. Image Image Image Image

Helicopter, That bloody thing looks like it weighs more than the helicopter.
But what I want to know Scott is can you write the jet ski off as a business expense since it tows the dredge? Thanks in advance for the measurements I am going to build a flare for the 6 based on the ratios that Precision used because they definitely knew what they were doing. I am going to try to go to the full width of my sluice unless it turns out the flare will be like 14 ft long or something.

Only box 23"+ wide keene has ever made was in 1984 catalog for a 5"=sb5. I believe that is either a copy of the keene pro mac design from the mid 80's or a pro mac before he bankrupt the company. Looks sweet--I would absolutely LOVE to play with your new toy?? Better use it quick whilest we still can?? Toooooooooo much turbidity in the box or is it just pics--looks like lotza aireation going on for a triple?? Floats look like they really work from the pontoon boat. Marty A in folsum was making them outta alum pontoon boats and precision parts with the RIGHTEOUSLY cheap geo metro motors with Jims great maching adaptors and vw carb too. AGAIN when ya gonna go and get serious with your newn'???company ??tons a au 2 u 2-John

Hey John are you near Happy Camp or where abouts are you? Would be happy to have you give the dredge a good look over and tell me what needs done. Who knows once that pressure hose stays on I would have some time to see if it catches gold. Those pontoons where the first set in the country. Guess there are popping them out now. Maybe that leak at the pump discharge was the cause of the aeration? Couldnt keep that sucker on,even tryed muffler clamps 4 days later bagged it and came back. Figured fix some stuff head out and try again. I plan on welding on a screw on type, same that is on the jet. That should fix the problem with the pressure hose staying on the pump. Didnt know pro mack made a tripple side by side. Im sure once you look at it you will know what they did.
